Spotlight on Sponsors: Phil Wood & Co.

The little engine that could! It is nice to know that this local little homegrown shop has changed the entire industry when it comes to bicycle hubs. There is the mighty army of Campagnolo, the almost mightier brigade of Shimano, and then there is the only lonely knight, noble and proud, known as Phil Wood & Co. He's armored in a simple shell, though his passion for the fight is endless considering the two giants that he is up against. Since 1971, Phil Wood has proudly called itself the oldest American Bicycle Component Manufacturer - and even more amazing is that they are just 45 short miles south, in San Jose. Every part has been designed, engineered, manufactured and assembled in a small shop - and every part that has left has had the same quality that has lasted so long. Their designs are deceptively simple - wrapped inside is flawless mechanics that not only outlast their competition, but is actually compatible with almost any other component group on the market. Phil Woods' no-fuss hubs and bottom brackets are the hardest working around. Phil Wood & Co. kindly donated a variety of their signature goods to this year's event, including Bio Lube, hand cleaner, shirts, jerseys, and a pair of pint glasses.
