It's already October, and organization for the 8th Annual Supermarket Street Sweep is well under way! Last year, despite the threat of rain, 119 racers competed to raise 6,552 lbs. of food and $7405.64 in funds for the San Francisco and Marin Food Banks. We hope to surpass these totals this year and hope to see you on December 7th!
We're making one big change for 2013: we'd like to make our after party more fun by streamlining the prize ceremony. In the past, we've tried to give out prizes to every participant. But given the huge turnout for our event, this takes up quite a bit of time as we tally the results. So this year, we'll be emulating a race-style podium and only awarding big prize packages to places 1-5. We hope this gives racers more time to eat, drink and socialize at the after party. But don't worry, we're brainstorming other ways to reward everyone for coming out!
